    Re: Woods-the way they were

Did some exploring this past weekend to see how saturdays bounty held up. Off organgrinder and downspout had nice snow over scratch. It was good to go.
Lew's line was, in a word, bad. Would have been better off with my mtn bike.
Looks like wednesday's precipitation should be a perfect base builder. Doing the snow dance

Talked with someone who skied to the skier's right of Steins and they found the snow gun blowin had helped. I checked out another place and was glad to see that the 6 inches of Champlain Powder had started to bond to the ice layer below. Softening it so you now could hold an edge but alas just not enough cover. It also just covered over the grass, rocks and debris.

I learned from a ski patroler, that their rule of thumb is, the woods are ready, when they start to move the pads up the lift towers due to snow depth. Seem about right since on Monday Dec. 22 they where in that starting process. And the wood where just starting to be safe. Lets hope the Wed. storm drops 1-2 feet of thick snow followed by a foot of fluff.

    Doing my snow dance!
