    Turn the lights back on ... the party is not over!

    Today from Moretown.

    Although you can't see it from the picture, even Birch Run and Sunrise are still wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor. Should be a great Cinco de Mayo party this weekend to close out the lift-served options! After that, it appears we may be able to ski into June without much struggle.

    May One ski?

    How was it up there? It looks from the base like there are still good bumps on Cliffs, Exterm, and FIS??? I think I'll head up tomorrow.

    That's what we skied. We hiked Hammerhead to the Glen House, then w/skins up Looking Good/Rim Run. FIS was good enough for multiple runs, then we finished off with Exterminator and Cliffs. Bumps have been well smoothed out by the rain and warm temps.

    If they opened North and you had to get off and take your skis off to walk over to FIS could you ski back to the lift? Knowing that Baldy was burned out.

    Baldy's not burned out. And there's plenty of snow to ski to the lift. North could have about 10 or 12 trails open right now, with some pushing down to North Ridge.

    If I get out tomorrow, I'll take a bunch of pics.

    Aww Doug,

    You make me so proud. It seems like just the other day, you were going up for your first skinning experience and now you sound like a master turn earner.

    One May Ski still at Lincoln Peak, too. Top-to-bottom on Organgrinder. Sweet sunset and sweet corn!

    Gus & Mike on top of Lincoln Peak? Looks like Lake Champlain in the background.

    Nice sunset. I see a lot of nice ones over a "wee" mt. here in NH. Some dogs are so lucky while others break my heart. Althea is doing well and I have taken in another that needed love and a home. She will soon make her first trip to Vermont. ; }

    Speaking of dogs, Gus has been diagnosed with cancer. No definitive timeline, but I'm doing what I can to prolong and enrich whatever he's got left. And trying not mourn before he's gone. He sure doesn't seem bummed, so why should I be? You never know how long you'll have any friend, so we are enjoying each moment as it comes.

    Been a tough spring on many levels, but consistent mountain therapy has kept me healthy and happy. I highly recommend it. So does Gus.

    Sorry to hear Gus is ailing but looks like he has had a quality experience. Wish you both the best. Loving our friends is sometimes all we can do. My thoughts are with you. Pam

    John....sorry to hear that. Lots of great memories that you will have forever and maybe even a few more in the making. A toast to you and Gus.

    Skiing is a dance, and the mountain always leads.

    Sorry to hear about Gus. Hope to see both of you biking this summer and skiing next winter. Hang in there.
