Thread: Musicians

    Musicians

Just curious as to whether there are any other musicians on the board (other than Strat and I). If so, what do you play (or at least pretend to play ).

I play, well, lots. Too much, in fact. A little bit of everything, but I'm not perfect on anything.

    I play:

    Piano (mostly jazz)
    Organ (weddings, etc.)
Acoustic Guitar (James Taylor, Neil Young, Dan Fogelberg, Jim Croce... that kind of stuff. Getting into a bit of Tommy Emmanuel fingerstyle now)
    Trombone (jazz)
    Trumpet (jazz)
Euphonium (classical, and only when I absolutely have to )
    Fife/Pennywhistle (does that count? )
Sort of a little flute and clarinet, but I hate to play them both!
Sing tenor, baritone, or bass... whatever is needed

    Anyone else?

Guitars - ESP electric / Ovation acoustic (28 years)
Harmonica (Special 20's - usually in a rack)
    Tin Flute (8 note)
Keyboards (the wrong way...figured out from guitar chords, but fun)

well some people don't consider myself a musician, but I'm into turntablism, hence the "dj" part of my screen name. I've been spinning beats, scratching, and mixing all sorts of music for 8 years now. I love it!

I used to play the trombone.. a far cry from my musical hobbies now!

I pretty much just sing. Tenor in choral music and Bass in barbershop. I compete internationally with my quartet and larger chorus of 25.

In High School, I once made All State chorus despite the fact that when they gave me the slip of paper with handwritten notes on it for sight reading test, I held it upside down and sang it backwards. That sort of confused them. They made me do it again- no pressure there. Then one of the judges got up and looked over my shoulder, reached over and turned the music right side up. Then he looked at what I had read and what I had sung and said. "Close enough, she sang what she saw."

I played tenor sax in high school too. Tried the glockenspeil but it was too hard to play with 2 hammers and marching at the same time. See why I don't ski?

BMM already mentioned, but yeah, guitar, clarinet, dabble in piano (okay I took lessons for 7 years with renowned jazz pianist Bruce Sklar, but I never got too good)... I know how a bass guitar works but I'm not too good at playing it... can't sing, at all. Haha... I'd like to branch out more instrumentally though...
