On June 26, 2011, the Cross Vermont Trail Association invites you to participate in the Central Vermont Cycling Tour to raise funds and support for the Cross Vermont Trail. Formerly known as the "VT Eco Tour", riders have a choice of 15, 33 and 60 mile rides on scenic gravel roads and trail walks at Morse Farm Maple Sugar Works.
This event is also a way to sample some great Vermont food. Our feed stations and end of ride buffet will be packed with food from local farms, businesses and restaurants.
The long ride (60 miles) starts at 9AM. This ride is 92% gravel/dirt, has well over 6,000' of climbing, and 3 feed stations.
The medium ride (32 miles) starts at 10AM. This ride is 85% gravel/dirt, has 3,000' of climbing, and 3 feed stations.
The short ride (15 miles) starts at 10AM. This ride is 75% gravel/dirt, is more appropriate for families with kids (no long climbs or descents), and 1 feed station.
Registration includes great local food at a post-ride buffet, convenient feed stations/rest stops, well-marked courses, and course-wide mechanical and medical support.
The purpose of this event is to raise funds and awareness for the Cross Vermont Trail Association's (CVTA) trail projects in the Capital Region of Central Vermont.
In the next 4 years the CVTA will build 2 miles of shared-use path and a 200-foot bicycle pedestrian bridge across the Winooski River in East Montpelier. The trail will connect three Capital Region towns and establish a safe route to school for students of Union 32 High School (East Montpelier, VT). When you ride with us on June 26th, you will not only be having a great time, but you will be supporting a worthwhile cause.
