    Traveling South From Sugarbush

My wife and I are planning on visiting our daughter in Raleigh, NC next month. What's the best way to travel there from Sugarbush? From MA I generally take the Garden State Parkway to NJ Turnpike to 95. What's the best route to NJ?

I'd recommend the NY Thruway (I87) to Garden State Parkway to NJ Turnpike (I95), then south on I95 from there. There are a few ways to get to I87 from Sugarbush, the easiest likely being Vt 100 south to Killington, then Vt 4 west into Rutland and continuing west on Vt 4 to the NY border, where you pick up NY 4 west, take that through Whitehall and on to Fort Ann, where you pick up NY 149W to Queensbury and I87.

When we go to Charlotte NC, we go this way.

been traveling this route for 45 years - have tried every possible road, (dirt and paved) goat path, and sidewalk - The only portion i would alter would be the Garden state pkwy - After you pass the Harriman toll on the NYS Thruway - get onto 287 South - It is more direct - no tolls should cut about 30-50 min off your trip depending on the time of day - take it all the way to the NJTP - it's 65mph except thru Parsippany/Morristown
The GSP is double nickel most of the way, plus tolls - safe travels!

+1 on the 287 way. Make sure you don't go through Jersey at rush hour times.

I287 is longer point to point, but you'll likely hit less traffic (but definitely avoid both during rush hour)

Agree on both points. If you are not going during rush hour, you can also get off the New York Thruway at Exit 15 (287 exit) but take Route 17 South to Route 80 east to the NJ turnpike. It is more direct than staying on the Thruway to the Parkway or taking 287 to the turnpike. There are many gas stations and places to eat on Route 17. Gas is cheaper in NJ than New York.
