I'll have to defer to Win on this one. I'm not up to speed with what's going on over at Lincoln Peak, nor am I working in snowmaking this year.
But rest assured that snowmaking isn't being...
Alright. Let's consider a few things. Snowmaking is not a "snap your fingers" type of operation. And it is very expensive and wasteful to resurface trails that have good cover, and have (as of...
That is a mogul course for a USSA mogul competition tomorrow and Sunday. That's the only available spot with enough snow and the appropriate pitch.
Guns were online in base area, and on Sugar...
That is exactly how I thought it skied. I also thought FIS skied well too, but what do I know? I found a couple of shots where I could link up some nice turns. Overall the upper part of the...
Right back atcha, ShadyJay!
And a Happy New Year from everbody's favorite bump skiing groomer!
Not really. Lower Exterm is bare, yes. The headwall is sketcy, but not bare. The section from the Bravo cutover down to Wayback is prime, and is like the picture.
Yeah... it was cold up there today!
But I thought the middle part of Exterm was great! Look:

Got to the mountain around lunch time expecting it to look about the same as it looked when I left at midnight. And it seemed like it would be awful. GMX + NRX were on windhold. Summit was running,...

And the gray-ish color on the trim in the stairwells is "Elkhorn," IIRC. :D
More than 10" at the house as of 10:30pm.
Tomorrow's gonna be awesome!
Doooooooooooood.... no friends on a powder day, man!

There aren't words, my friends... there aren't words to describe the skiing today! So amazing. A solid 4-8+ inches all over the mountain, snowed hard starting around 1pm, and just freaking...
Northridge opened around 11:00AM, all inspected and ready to go. And the skiing was phenomenal! TR & pix to come soon. Oh yeah, I love this mountain!
Fortunately, that incident had nothing to do with the manufacturer. It was ice jacking, caused by water buildup in the tower. The water froze and broke the weld at the flange connecting that top &...
Northridge is a Leitner-Poma lift, FYI.[/quote]
True, but Doppelmayr relocated it in '95 and messed it up. I believe that Poma un-messed it up in 2002. Those are very technical terms mind you...

Bravo is a Doppelmayr circa 1995. Northridge is a Leitner-Poma circa 1990. It was the original Green Mountain Express, then moved to it's current location by Doppelmayr in 1995. Doppelmayr messed...

Maintenance.
Don't think that inspections aren't scheduled until last minute... you could call in April and maybe not even fit into the schedule until December. I don't know when our inspections...
Just to reiterate what Win pointed out... there is ONE lift inspector for all of the areas in N VT. He is very very much in demand this time of year. Win also made it clear that inspections are...
It's a North American-built Doppelmayr. What do you expect?
I'm a Poma guy myself. I'll take an L-POA over an American Dopp any day. Now Euro Dopps with Agamatic grips... that's...
Just felt inclined to take a second and wish our favorite resort a happy 50th! Of course, the actual date isn't until 12/25, but with this weekend's celebrations, I think it's appropriate to mention...
