As many of you know, I have created and currently maintain an internet collection of historical Sugarbush trailmaps (the URL is in my signature). I'm always eager to gain access to more maps, and today I received (well, was loaned) a bunch of older maps from Cheryl, the owner of A Right Cut (I'm sure at least one person on here gets their hair cut by her). Anyway, it occurred to me that if she has this monster stash of maps, there must be quite a few people in the valley with some impressive collections. This being the Sugarbush Forum, I thought it might be a good idea to ask here. So, whatcha got? Cool

What would be particularly work-interupting would be if someone could dig up a copy of the planned Slide Brook lift and trail connection plans that were floating around through various administrations. That would be juicy.

I totally agree... I've read in some of the phone book histories that Roy Cohen first presented his Slide Brook plans with big posters and topo maps... definitely would like to see those

Nobody out there in our community of 110 registered users has anything to offer? I'm shocked.

This is one that it is probably good to bring up to the top every once in a while. Never know who is looking in (many more than the registered members. ) and when. Wink

Bummer! I've been telling people to go there when talking about history.

Strat, it was nice meeting you today. Sorry I didn't have more time, but I had to get to the booth to ask them to turn down the music, which they were worried might interfere with the interview.

As it turned out, by the time I got there, they'd already turned it down. Then I turned around, and you were gone. Rolling Eyes

Good luck with the linkage thing, but I would guess you will need more bandwidth. They might just send a bunch of people your way. Cool

Was nice meeting you too. I didn't actually have too much time either, as my mom had things to do down in the valley, but it would've been fun to chat some more. Do you ambassador on the weekends at all or just midweek?

What was the interview for by the way? I saw Win was out there and that other important looking guy whom I couldn't identify...

Oh, and thanks for the site exposure by the way - even if the server can't handle the traffic. Sad But as I said, Sugarbush.com here I come Very Happy Very Happy Cool

Most of my ambassador days are scheduled for weekends.

As for the interview, it was Good Morning America... Tho it seemed to be afternoon? Confused Laughing

Strat: Since you're in the Valley, drive over to Middlebury College Library and you will find the NFS, Act 250, etc paperwork that ASC filed for the resort in 1995 or so. It has some interesting topo maps of proposed lift routes and different phases of resort work that was supposed to take place. Fold out maps that are color coded. You would not believe the different options they had on the table for the SB lift route. It also shows where snowmaking pipe was going, trail widening, lift renovations, etc. Well worth the time. It has been six or so years since I looked at it, but the reports were there in the gov docs area. Midd takes an interest because this was a huge environment issue back in the day (when you were probably in diapers Laughing ) and the college once owned the land.

Summit, I know of a few people that worked on getting the Slide Brook Express approved and they have said that there was a deal made with an environmental group [not sure who exactly]. The deal was struck that if a lift was approved that there would be no further attempt at any develpment for a 25 year period. Do you know if this is a rumor that has spun for too many years or is there any truth to it?
