I was discussing this with Greg in another thread, and I'm not sure which one, so I created this. It turns out there is an easy way to do it. For a thread that has the orange marking meaning new posts, there should be a little orange arrow just to the left of the thread subject. That will take you to the last unread post, as opposed to the very last post which the little arrow way to the right by most recent post does.

A similar thing actually works on Alpine Zone (and FTO, if you use that too). On those sites there is a little arrow and a little orange page.
