Sorry for the late chime in, but I had really bad ankle problems and no boot fit off the shelf. I went to Alpine Options last year and they have a specialist come in on Fridays (did last year at least). Hooked me up with the right shell, custom foot pad and had a machine that could heat and stretch any part of the boot. He said try without the stretching first. I did and came back for the stretch. No extra charge. In fact he said if I ever need any fine tuning to come in and they'd take care of it right away. Very friendly. Must have spent hours in there and they seemed very focused to fix my problem.

I got my boots at Inverness. First few times I went out they seemed fine, then they started to hurt around one ankle. I took them back a year later and Inverness had me re-fitted and perfomed some sort of surgery on the boot. It's now great. They have excellent service, they're pleasant to deal wih, and really know what they're doing with boots! Very Happy

I have had good luck with Alpine Options, they all know their stuff for the most part and are pretty well equiped. Again, they don't really push any really radical fitting, just whats needed, one step at a time. I obviously did prety good with them, because my current boots have served me well.

One more note on Alpine Options. I always recommend them so my buddy went there because he was having issues with his boots and wanted to get new ones. They sized him up, talked about his issues and determined teh best boot for him. Unfortunately they didn't have his size. They told him he could order them and they would likely be in in about 2 weeks. Knowing though that my buddy was leaving for Utah in 2 weeks and he'd need time to break them in they recommended another place on the mountain that would have them. Instead of trying to put him in anther boot that wouldn't be a best fit they sent him to a competator. That says a lot about a company and the fact that they will make sure that they get you exactly what you need and not try and place you into something "that will likely work just as well"
