I know, I didn't even ask your opinions, but here is the 61st Annual Warren 4th of July FAQ's:
Theme: "It's EASY Being Green!"
Grand Marshall: Rebecca "Becky" Peatman, Main Street resident who has not missed a single parade. Her home and her person are fully adorned in red, white and blue every year.
Live Music: Jimmy Yozell & Friends, Warren Store Porch, and Mad Mountain Scramblers, Warren School Field
Madbus: will run all day beginning at 8am and departing from Lincoln Peak and Yestermorrow School
Weather: sunny and warm, of course.
Funding: $1 to enter the village, for a full day of fun.
Visit our site at www.Warren4thofJuly.com as we continue to update. I have some special attractions planned this year. Stay tuned. What I could really use is small financial donations from my AZ/SkiMRV friends. Your screen name, or business name, or real name will be listed on the July 4 website.

ok.... I think everything is in place for next Saturday. Who will I see in Warren on 7/4? I am still looking for Friends of the Fourth donors- www.Warren4thofJuly.com Become a Facebook friend of the 4th while you are there.
I have about 50 pair of buddy badge prizes for this year, so give generously at the gate (the day's events are worth so much more than $1 !) get your numbered sticker and go find the matching number in the crowd. Every number has a match, Waldo....go find it!
Make sure to run up to the field, via Brook Road, and check out the Ways of the Woods mobile museum. I am particularly excited about that! http://www.warren4thofjuly.com/blog/2009/06/way-of-woods-mobile-exhibition-coming.html
Any questions?

Yeah... Did you order some of that Chamber of Commerce weather?
I'm turning into a mushroom, up here!
I'm hoping to get down and make a contribution, tomorrow, after my show. I was supposed to do that, last week, but it slipped my mind along with most of the rest of the world.
I'll also get my Buddie badge, even tho I know you check the number, run to the other side, and destroy its mate.
I was at a party in Waterbury, last weekend. A couple people were talking about their parade. One of them said, "They're all the same thing." I told them they have to come to Warren's. It is not the same!

Yes. Is the farmer's market open at the same time as the parade??? any chance to hit the market before/after the parade?
Please order up some CC weather for saturday. this is ridiculous. I went for a ride in the woods and it was so dark I could have used headlights

| Word I got from a vendor at the market is that they will be on concurrent, but will be open later, as they are expecting that a LOT of their customers will be partaking of the parade. |
Thanks.

My report:
Awoke around 6:30 to pouring rain. Not a good sign. Still, I got up, had breakfast and headed over to catch the bus. By the time I got out of the shower (You’re welcome.) the rain had stopped. Still, there were a lot of clouds, so I took my rain poncho and umbrella.
As I was approaching the bus, I looked to the right, and saw that it was raining on Easy Rider. Just a little before the bus, I could see it was raining at the other side of the parking lot. It was sprinkling as I got on the bus, and started raining hard, right after.
It poured all the way down to the village, and until we got to the covered bridge. There, I put on the poncho, so the rain got lighter.
As the time for the parade approached (and passed) the rain came and went. As it stayed away for longer, I took off my poncho, and for a while I took even off my long sleeve shirt. (They ought to think about having this thing in July, when it is warm!)
For a while, I feared that there was going to be nobody there. Then, everyone seemed to make the decision, and came in at once. Just as they did, the rain stopped for almost the entire time of the parade.
The parade itself… I LOVE the Warren parade! I was in Waterbury last week. Someone was commenting on their parade, and said that they were all the same. I told them that they had to come to the Warren parade. There is so much more energy and… just plain strangeness! Did anyone understand the slug float? I was asked about that, and was at a loss. It seemed like they were trying to get the front up, and that might have been a big clue, but by the time that happened, it was well beyond my position.
As the parade was coming to an end, the rain began again. I have a number of pix of the street dance in front of the Warren store. It was a sea of umbrellas. While I was looking at them I wondered if anyone was checking out the Mad River Valley Webcam. That would have been the best time of ever being able to use it!
Could have been better if I'd found my buddy. I had the number2468. That means I was able to shout "2 4 6 8". Do you have any idea how many times I heard "Who do we appreciate?" in response? But, "That's my number"...? No! that's because noski checks to see what number I have and rushes to the other side to get the matching one. She hides it until the prizes are gone, and then puts it, and 8253 copies everywhere.
But do I get it? No... It is Charlie Brown and the football!
Went over for the fireworks. Rained as we went over. Then, just before we were to head out to the parking lot, it poured. Then it rained. Then it poured. Then, just before we actually headed out, the rain stopped. We had the ski school area and half of the first row parked when it started again. Then, by the time we were into the 4th row, it stopped, and never started again.
There were a ton of people there, for the fireworks. We were parking them in E lot. Coulda used the side lot, but the snow cover… wasn’t all that good… yet.
I thought the fireworks were great, and every single comment I heard agreed. There was a cloud cover, but it was high enough that everything was clearly visible.
All told, I thought it was a great day. But if they’d have done it today… What a great day to be outside. OK, so it was a great September day, but anyone who decided to take the last day was well rewarded! Except for me, who found that when you are making a really good, strong throw in disc golf, but it is about 5° in the wrong direction… It isn’t a really good throw.
So what did everyone else think? Did you brave it? Did you have fun? I have a lot of pix, but they’re still patiently waiting to get out of the camera. Hopefully, this week.
