Resort: Sugarbush--LP

Conditions: MG/FG. 2-3 inches of new snow.

Weather: Snow, highs in the upper teens at best. Gusty winds.

2007-2008 Trip Report #: 43

Trip Report: OK, it has been WAY too long of a hiatus for me at Sugarbush. As many of you know, I was online yesterday morning...one eye here, one eye on SB's site. When I saw that Gate House was opening, I figured what the hell...a nice afternoon of turns...enough to keep me satisfied, but limited terrain because of the weather and icing.

Pulled in at 1pm and hit Gate House first:

Not bad folks. Snowing like crazy and not many folks there...well, more than expected. First spin down Pushover to Overshot. Nothing to write home about...very windy.

Next spin was down Sleeper Chutes, which had some soft snow that skied nicely...until everyone and their grandmother found out....

Did another spin down it...I was not skiing the "Ice-Fall."

Did one run down Birch Run...sketchy...maybe one or two groomer passes, but icy and cold otherwise. Better than nothing.

After a warm up, I was hoping to ski Bravo but it was down...so back up to ski Pushover Chute (icy bumps) and then another spin down Sleeper before seeing that Bravo was on. So I skated over.

Rotated between Traverse/Snowball/Lower Snowball (which was nice and soft) and Lower Jester...the only groomed runs off Bravo. Just enough vert and long enough to make it entertaining. I keep forgetting about the terrain over on Valley House side....

On one run I ran into none other than Mr. Lostone who had to do a double take since it had been so long... Embarassed We talked spring skiing and then did Snowball together. He hit some nice snow.

By now it was 3:30 and I was able to get in three more runs (thanks to the lifties for letting me on at 4:02!).

Will be back on Wednesday...'Ellen here we come....

1) The reason for my double-take was I'd just gotten on the lift with a stranger, then realized I knew that stranger.

B) I looked at the pic of me (I had thought you were shooting the trail. Laughing ) and see that my skis are much closer than I thought. Rolling Eyes (At least my hands were in front, tho. Wink )

III) Nice bumping into you. Smile
