You beat me to it. We will be skiing Jester and Downspout and downloading on Bravo. Bravo begins at 9am and last chair will be 3pm for Bravo and 3:15 for Heaven's Gate. I skied two runs today. The depth is 10"-22". We will not groom tonight, so the conditions will be sketchy at best but will improve as it gets skied in. It is definitely only for those experienced enthusiasts who want to start their first lift accessed skiing and riding. Tickets are one price tomorrow for all non-passholders ($25). We will be making snow all night and will continue during the day as well. Allyn's Lodge will be srving food and drink. By next weekend we should be looking must better given the forecast.

Let the Games begin!

Win-Any predictions on expanding terrain for next weekend? I know it is difficult to forecast. Just wondering.

The timing of terrain expansion really depends on the temperatures. If we get temperature in the teens and single digits, we can expand fast. The forecast is looking good at this point. Our focus is to make sure that we have sufficient depth on Jester and Downspout at LP and Rim Run A, Elbow and Rim Run D at ME so that we can remain open even if we have a thaw and rain. Then at LP we will move to get to the bottom by going down Downspout to Gondolier and then will likely work on Lower Jester, Upper Organgrinder and Lower Organgrinder and then move over the the Gate House Pod so we have good beginner and intermediate terrain for the Holidays. We will also focus on the North Lynx Pod because having that lift spreads everything out. At North we will go down Cruiser next to get the Northridge running and then to the bottom and then we will focus on getting Inverness open for GMVS. This is the likely plan if we have good temperatures at the base. If not, we will focus on the upper trails. Our goal is to keep our guns running full speed all the time now.

This time of year cold weather really held us make progress fast.

All of us kooks here at SkiMRV are so off-base. I don't know why we bother expressing critical views of the mountain we love.

Sincerely,

The Kool-Aid Brigade

PS - Seriously, really happy to see this. That will make a big difference for the holidays, IMO.

Welcome to ski season everybody! :)
It is currently 26 degrees at the base with a light wind. We had an inch or two of snow last night and everything looks white for the opening. I hope everybody gets out today and makes some turns. Having winter out the window sure looks good.

That is a great view!

Should be out for a run or two today. Not a full ski day, but just getting my legs under me.

Let's see... The pointy side used to go first, but now, there is no pointy side? :?

It is always good to under promise and over deliver, but I really under promised yesterday. What a difference 24 hours has made. We had excellent snomaking temperatures last night and the 5" of snow we had at the Summit mixed in well. Skiing today on Jester and Downspout in powder was a very "official" first day treat. I think everyone that I saw out on the trails would be in agreement and they all seemed to be having a great time even with the guns blowing from top to bottom.

Time to get out if you haven't already.

four laps done and it was different each run as the slope gets tracked and legs get memory back. It is much better than expected. Going to fatter straighter skis for the afternoon laps. The snow is nice, but it will get you into shape fast. Now we just need the cold to stay so the mountain freezes. The gully on skiers right of downspout is sweet if your into water skiing. Flowing well still., It truely is amazing what four runs can do for mental health!!! :D  Still Dancing!

Very variable. A few guns on stun, but what a bunch of smiles! :D

Sounds like a plan. Now if we can get the track for wednesdays storm to shift a little south and east, we'll be set. forecast looking good for the next 10-14 days.

I did four runs. 3 skiing (Or what passes for it, for me) and one for pix. Here are a few of the pix:

This one might be WWF. Wasn't shooting him, but rather random shots. He introduced himself, as he got to me. Nice meeting you, WWF. Sorry about the pic. You were just too far away.

Didn't shoot a lot more, but what I did shoot is in my skiing album for the 09' - '10 season in my Photobucket site. (http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee203/Pix_from_Jim/2009-10%20%20Skiing/)

It was nice seeing those who came out today. Had no idea I'd be working HG on Day 1... hope everyone had a great time and looking forward to many many more great times this season.

And it'll definitely take me a few more runs to get my legs back... that's why I kept my board at bay until it was the end of the day.

That pic look like me. Nice to meet you yesterday. Looks like there was pretty good natural snow building up on Spillsville and lets hope for more terrain options opening soon.
