Any new information come out of Homowner's weekend?

As we get a lot of info, here, I don't know a lot of what came out that we hadn't already heard.

Points I can remember are:

The new trail map has a separate (slightly larger) map of Mt Ellen, on the back.

All the new glades areas are on the South map, but not so, for all the North glades.

Decisions as to whether to continue with base expansion, at South, next year, will be made sometime around a January time frame.

Summer programs were well received, and will be continued and possibly expanded.

Those are the main things I can remember, but I'm sure there were a few more that others will be able to recall. 8)

I only caught the last bit of what Win said at Community Day. Something was said about the mountain having "40 key days" or something like that. The place looked good...especially with VH Double and Gate House repainted.

The 40 key days are Saturdays and holidays. That is where the maximum of day tickets are sold. If they go well, the mountain will almost always do well.

To tell the truth I'm amazed at how many times a Saturday won't be... stellar, then Sunday will, but everyone heads out to go home. :?

Would be great to spread some of that business, there, but as it is, those 40 are what makes it.

This is a big reason why folks are not in the ski biz anymore...the entire success of the season comes down to literally a handful of days. Can you imagine how sick it must feel to have it rain the day before Christmas or to have it be -30 F on MLK weekend?

Hasn't that been 4 out of the last 5 years?

Yeah, really!

Although Christmas 2007 ROCKED. That couple weeks had some of the sickest skiing I have seen.

It seems like clockwork almost every year. If I remember corectly 04' -05' we had a major roof leak in the condo we rented. It rained so hard there was a waterfall on Lower Organgrinder. I think that was the year that we almost lost top to bottom skiing.

Summit, I think you mean before Christmas. I remember that year to be more of the same as far as Christmas week.

As for Win's Speech. Lostone summed it up nicely.
By the way Lostone, I was with that group at Allyns on Saturday. Chilly Hike. Could have used another layer.

Nope. December and November 2007 were very good. I was at Burke Christmas Week and the conditions were out of this world. Now maybe things were different iat SB, but we had tons of snow and it was great. Christmas 2008 was another story.

OK, I had a minute to do some digging. Looks like Christmas Eve kept with tradition and we had a brief thaw that did some damage:

But the rest of the TR's tell a different story:

By the way Lostone, I was with that group at Allyns on Saturday.

'tis a sad fact... I recognize so many people, but have no idea from where I know them, if, in fact, I know them at all.

Last year, during the Christmas week, I was greeting people, as they were leaving. One guy recognized me as the guy who had guided him on a tour, the previous December. I continued the conversation with him, but in the back of my mind, I couldn't help but wonder how he could remember me from a year ago, while I stand before the mirror, each morning and wonder who the guy on the other side of the glass is. Then I wonder how he got in my closet, which is on the other side of that glass. Then I wonder how I remember there is a closet on the other side of that glass, when I can't even remember who the guy in there is. http://forums.skimrv.com/albums/album38/iconcrazyrp7.gif

So for those who know me, from here, sorry if I don't recognize you. Feel free to say hello and introduce yourself. I probably won't remember you a week later. I have the memory of a goldfish, when it comes to people.

I used to say that was the worst thing about me. Then I was reminded, by the voices, that there were lost of other things that competed for that honor.

Now, if you want to discuss the problem we had with the design of that transducer for the shuttle back in '86 . . . I'm all over that!
