Zermatt to Argentierre, that is.

Hannah and I recently celebrated our upcoming betrothal with a little early honeymoon to Europe. Flying into Geneva, we decided to take it easy and spend a night there before continuing on to Zermatt. Geneva is a very cool city, but frankly, I don't think anybody here is really interested in why. How about we get to the mountains?

We only had time for one run on our first day, so we went right to the top of the Klein Matterhorn cable car at 12,500'. 7000' of skiing back to town! Good thing I've been training with non-stoppers on Liftline and Ripcord all season.

The Matterhorn dominates the skyline, even when it's mostly hidden.

We skied down and down and down, eventually getting near the bottom, where we began to see restaurants along the edge of the trail. Rounding a corner, we ran into a full-blown raging party, complete with an English band playing '80's cover tunes. Sweet child of mine, normally we wouldn't stop for this kind of fun, but when in Rome ...

Hennu Stall rocked!

We spent the next day exploring Zermatt and wandering over the Italian border to the Cervinia ski area. Two ski areas, two countries, two prosciutto and brie sandwiches at a mountaintop refuge, too much vertical, too many runs, too much fun!

We skied almost all the way around the Matterhorn.

While on a cable car on the way to the top, I overheard a woman talking about skiing at Sugarbush. Half a world away and we're still close to home.

More to come ...

John

Brings back many memories of my couple days there in 2002. Amazing place. Glad to see that the new gondi is in place. Sad to see that they need HKD guns at the bottom like we do.

Congratulations John. That's the best stoke of the season. I was wondering when that was going to happen. Good luck.
One question- if you've had the honeymoon already do you really need to get married?

Moved to Misc.

Congrats on the soon to be nuptials! But I have to agree with Howie... If the honeymoon is over...

That second shot is a framer! Looks like there'll be more than one that can handle the camera in the family! :)

....wide, wide open. If they hadn't beat me to it...

Congrats. And don't even THINK about getting married wearing anything other than full technical gear...

My wife and I went the opposite way, from Argentierre to Zermatt on our honeymoon. Did you spend any time in val d'herens or heremens?
