Did anyone else see the moose or its droppings that is making its home at Ellen?

I will not say where as I don't want it to be bothered, but just wondering if anyone else almost ran into it like I did this past weekend. I was traversing and had to stop short to keep from skiing into it, about 30- 50 feet from me. It was pretty cool. He was basking in the sunshine!!! But of course did not have the camera with me!! Found him again on Sunday, with the camera, but could not get any clear shots of it.

This sounds just like the people who claim to have seen bigfoot... I don't believe you... There are no moose in vermont. Except for the ones in the granville gulf that try to jump infront of your car.

I always thought I would see one there first, but just not the case. The tracks from the thing are almost close to big foot size. Would not want to get kicked by it that is for sure. And the droppings are walnut to small egg in size. Big raisinettes!!! When I down load the pictures that I got I will post one even if they are not the best. I also got audio recording of it grunting!!! They certainly are amazing animals.

We were driving along lincoln gap rd once, down by the fields before the actual gap, there was a moose jogging along the road... Eventually he ran up ahead, and up onto the road... We probably could have driven right through his legs... So he stops in the middle of the road, just checking out the situation, we get out of the car, but stay behind our doors, and this woman pulls up behind us and tells her kid to run up and stand next to the moose so she could take a picture!!!! We were all, WTF???

Or Halloween card after the moose kicked the kids head in!!!!

I have not seen the one at Ellen but came within 10 feet of Siena the moose at Mad River. She is very big! Or at least she looked it from 10 feet away when she stood up.....

The one in the Sugarbush calendar for March was seen last march going across Spring Fling, thru Eden (Where the pic was shot) and across Lower Snowball and into the woods.

This was during the ski day, and I heard the ambassadors tracking it.

You... have seen the calendar, haven't you?

Hawk. There is a moose currently taking up residence in the top secret area you call "my own way home". Not that I was skiin' in there last weekend (grinning).... just sayin'...... You must attract them, or maybe Sienna followed you back from MRG.

I've seen the tracks and wondered if anybody was going to run into her.

I hope that she didn't follow me. That would make PP jealous....

I also figured that people would be out there this weekend. It's all good unless it a powder day. Then you will be hard pressed to beat me there....

You're all very funny... except this is serious business. I may need to go to an ophthalmologist or something. The darn things are 10 feet tall and apparently everywhere and I can't see them. Wasn't there are movie like that? My kids do get a kick out of faking moose sightings as we cruise through the Granville Gulf on friday nights.

Howie, it's just chance. The more time you spend in the wilderness the higher the probablility of seeing them. Don't worry you'll see one soon.

Howie, if you were a visitor here at my counter asking me where you can go to see moose, I would send you to the Northeast Kingdom, Rt 105 Island Pond to Bloomfield, at dusk. I have lived in VT well over 40 years and have seen moose only about 6 times, so keep looking! :)

I took this pic with my phone (ME 4-17-07). ME closed with just a bit of snow.

I see moose about 15 to 20 times a year. Last spring-early summer the top of Bethel Mt. Rd. was a hot spot.

I'm just joking.
I did camp out in the granville gulf a few summers ago. I was sure I was going to see one then. But alas, 'nothing.

Make sure to do that at dusk, it will increase your chances.

Or dawn. Know some who almost hit them both times. I have more pix of one on Sunrise and another by the tennis courts at the SHARC, (No idea how his game was going.) but I never titled them, so I don't know when I'll run into them again.

Saturday afternoon - After one of the most awesome days skiing and partying at the Bush, driving down the access road just short of German Flats road, 6:30-7 pm when my passenger ordered me to pull over (I thought she was going to give up some of the Margaritas she had consumed). After pulling over, looking to my left was a cow and calf moose walking along the line of condos - the cow was almost as big as mother!

Besides, the biking was really good today and I'm ready for some warm weather. Opening day at the stadium on thursday.

Win: I was on skis. So was my daughter who will tell you (repeatedly) that she saw the moose first.

Howie: Ride your bike in the morning. Ski in the afternoon. And, drop the Yankees thing. VT is Red Sox Nation!

The skiing is a little rough in the Ny area right now. scratchy you might say.
Maybe I'll start my new life as a Red Sox fan by donning a uniform when I go to the stadium on thursday. NOT. Although after last night's debacle of a game maybe I should reconsider.
