Went out and turned 'em today. Second day of the season. Got a late start, but had some fun out there. Manmade snow bumps on Ripcord. Big, wide-spaced, but tons of fun. Fortunately, I remembered how to ski bumps! The natural stuff was softer than the manmade, but definitely getting thin where the traffic has been.

Overall, things are looking a lot better than I expected up there. 28 trails open, lots of fun to be had.

Mall and Twist were both pretty much crud, but were skiing in more by the end of today. Spills is getting real thin, but there are a couple of great (albeit short) bump lines to be found.

Got a few pix for you to enjoy. Sorry for the poor lighting on the last three, but it was rather cloudy, and I'm certainly no photographer!

First of all, here's the view I woke up to this morning: :D

Here's the newly painted Valley House, for those of you who haven't seen it. Many, many, many hard hours of work to get that building painted. I spent a few days working on it.

Great picture of the Valley House Lodge, It looks great from Spring Fling....If I do say so myself. Mid July to October is how long it took to paint, a couple of days dodging rain drops.

Nice pic of Ellen. I like that angle.

GF and I went up yesterday AM for some turns. Skied from 9-1pm. Snow was very skied out...we did not ski Ripcord as it was her first day. OG was pretty slick overall I thought. TR coming soon.

And summitchallenger, IMNATHO the skiing yesterday was on the natural snow trails, providing you could take a little thin cover. When there are that many people skiing that few snowmaking trails... it gets a little... challenging.

I think Jester held up quite well, tho, and I understand the decision about Ripcord, but it was skiing quite well, mostly.

It certainly looked like Ripcord, first thing, was the place to be. Lots of thin cover on Paradise, Spills, and Snowball. We did ski Lower Jester and Lower OG. We need about 6-10 inches of more natural before those are in good shape. I imagine snowmaking will be fired up soon down there. I did not want to sacrifice either her skis or mine.

Also I was under the weather...so my ski technique sucked.
