BROOMFIELD, Colo., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RockResorts International, LLC announced today it will expand its luxury property collection to the heart of the Northeast with the addition of The Mansfield Inn at Stowe, A RockResort in Stowe, Vermont. RockResorts has entered into an agreement with a joint venture between Stonewater Partners, Inc. and CastleGrace Management LLC to manage all resort operations, provide technical advisory services and provide marketing licensing services to assist in the sale of the residences. RockResorts, a resort hotel company headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN - News).

"The Mansfield Inn at Stowe will be a charming, luxury property that embraces its stunning alpine backdrop," said Stan Brown, executive vice president and chief operating officer of RockResorts and Vail Resorts Hospitality. "It serves as the perfect entry back into the Northeast for RockResorts."

Nestled in the woods of Stowe, The Mansfield Inn at Stowe will have a number of residences to be sold to third party purchasers. The property will also offer a number of luxury tented accommodations designed to allow guests to experience a rustic, outdoors experience with all of the finest amenities for which the RockResorts brand is known. Other property highlights will include a three-meal restaurant with a fine dining element; 6,000 square foot spa including six stand alone spa-themed cabins; two paddle tennis courts; warming hut and outdoor heated pool and hot tubs. The Mansfield Inn at Stowe is scheduled to open for the 2010/2011 ski season.

It's amazing how Vail Resorts have bought or developed properties at other ski resorts. When they bought a couple of icon properties in Jackson Hole(the valley) and then built the Snake River Lodge at the base of Jackson Hole(the ski resort) in Teton Village it was a surprise to many.

Apparently they are not concerned with Stowe's situation with their parent company, AIG.

If you read the Times Argus article last week, for some reason most Stowe businesses have the attitude that the resort will be OK and will retain its value in any sale. Apparently they forgot about the recent sales of the former ASC resorts...which were essentially dumped....

I think that the thinking is a bit naive given the market...

I have the TA delivered every morning...I think that's a fair assessment. Stowe can't just stop their developement halfway thru. The hotel is now open but the bottom of Spruce is still a big construction zone. If they want to sell perhaps this will be an obstacle.....guess we will find out in the next couple of months.
