Beautiful opening weekend. Friday was a great powder day. It was great riding first chair with Win and friends, and grabbing first tracks on Bravo to Encore. Then over to Brambles, then Hammerhead. Lots of freshies all day. Semi-Tough woods were incredible! Black Diamond was fun. I'd call it a "technical" run right now. But fun. Everything was well skied in by the end of the day Friday, and the usual bump runs were starting to bump up.

Yesterday was amazing. Still fresh to be found in the woods and along trail edges. Nice soft cord on the cruisers in the AM, and as the day progressed, bumps set up nicely. Hammerhead had some nice bumps, but the headwall was a little scrapey and thin as usual. Tumbler had bump lines to die for by the end of the day, as you can see below. Black Diamond was even more "technical," and all the more fun! Riemergasse and Sugar Run both skied like butter... soft and smooth. Too bad the terrain park is slated for Riemergasse again. That's a perfect learning slope, and it was truly a joy yesterday. Lower FIS was funky but fun, and the runout was actually not bad at all. The T-Bar line by Snowflake was a nice little pow stash, as it usually is for a week or so after a storm. Walt's and Semi both skied really nicely. Some some bumps were starting to form on the steeper drops on Semi. That's still one of my favorite trails on the mountain.

As for today, well, I stopped in and drank a cup of coffee and watched a few people skiing in the rain. Didn't go out myself today. Just didn't seem worth it. From what other people said, it wasn't bad, but everything was kind of like cement, and really slow. Tomorrow should be a good day for groomers, and maybe a day to take the natural stuff real slow to work as skier-groomers. I'll be up tomorrow afternoon, methinks. Looks like an inch or two will fall overnight, and another inch or two tomorrow. Maybe some snow showers on Christmas as well. I think it will ultimately turn out to be a good week. The base didn't appear to really suffer much at all from the rain. Just gonna be solid in the morning!

Now for some drool-worthy pix (if the pix don't show up, check back tomorrow. we seem to be having some dns issues with gmavt right now. weird):

Looks good...was going to ask how Mt. Ellen was. I may make an appearance on Thursday and Friday. Am having SB withdrawal symptoms, but am getting my Burke fix taken care of right now....
