Finaly made it up the hill for a few runs today, I road untill I killed my brake pads 8) Comming down off Superbravo, accross the traverse, and down reverse traverse to heavens gate traverse, and then to lower downspout and header is a pretty intense ride. The waterbars are prety gnarly, and there are all kinds of variations in the terrain you never see because snowmaking. The berms on Snowball are pretty wild, My hardtail isn't relly fit for them but it will get through most of them. I wiped once comming down Reverse Traverse, but I lost cout of how many times I crashed coming down Snowball and Racers Edge  I checked out some of the blue trails into eden, but it all the woods were pretty soggy so I stayed on the exposed stuff.

Alot of thought has gone into the trails at Sugarbush and there is a pretty diverse trail system. It isn't like they decided to run Superbravo and have access to the roads, there are very well planed trails, some of moderate difficulty, some I could seem myself on on skis, but not a bike anytime soon

Heading out I was pleasently supprised to find a bike wash with wood stands to hang the bike from, and two hoses. The only thing I can think of that would be nice would be to have a grill going with some burgers or something, mabey boxed sandwiches from Timbers at the least. It would be nice to have a repair stand setup somewhere near the bottom of Superbravo.

The Mountain biking at Suarbush is pretty great, alot of effort has been put into it, and its somethng definatly worth checking out. The potential is there for even more terrain, and many epic trails. The trails that are there are just begging to be ridden.

BTW, the Disc Golf Course looks pretty sweet too
8)

After making it down to Stark to get new brake pads just before they closed, and replacing my pads which I wore down to nothing (they were allready sketchy) I have my bike ready for another great day tomorrow.

Well, I'm not doing the mountain bike thing, but I have to agree it was a great day on the hill. The temps were in the high 60s or low 70s. The sky was blue, the air was dry, and the Green Mountains are... very green. 8)

I wanted to play disc golf, which I refer to as wandering around the bushes, wondering where my disc got off to. But, I thought that with all the rain, the last few days, I'd give it a little more time to dry out.

Instead, I took the lift up, and hiked to the top. Some of the strawberries were just about perfectly ripe.

I took a few pix, but they're not out of the camera yet. Instead, you can check out some of the pix from last weekend.

They start at pic 4421 in my Summer Activities (http://forums.skimrv.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Summer_Activities&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&page=5) album. For the record, this is 4421:

He was performing as part of the wedding they had at Allyn's Lodge, last weekend. What a great place for a wedding! :)

Another great day! Finally, a totally excellent weekend! :D

Yesterday, instead of hiking the top, which I had planned, I decided to make it a pic day. A few pix here, and many more in my Summer Activities album. (http://forums.skimrv.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Summer_Activities&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&page=1) ( For those that haven't seen the album. )

Sunday's pix start at 4543. (http://forums.skimrv.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Summer_Activities&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&page=6)

I started by taking a few pix of people playing on the zip line.

http://forums.skimrv.com/albums/Summer_Activities/tPICT4546c.jpg

Looked like traffic was pretty good, there, with people enjoying themselves.

Then I rode the lift up, waving at the happy people:

At the top, I followed a family, starting the upper disc golf course:
http://forums.skimrv.com/albums/Summer_Activities/tPICT4576.jpg

Then I started down. I found a great position for mountain bikers, with berms in front and Allyn's Lodge as a background. Only one minor problem... I stood there for about 5 years, and nobody showed up. (OK, so maybe it was only about 10-20 minutes, but that is a long time to be swatting flies, doing nothing. )

I started down Domino, and finally some bikers came along:
Anyone know this guy?

At Middle Domino, I noticed someone wandering around in the bushes, and spent a while helping him look for his errant disc. While we were looking, I looked up and saw we were being spied on from above:

As the disc golfer got back underway:

Got quite the sequence with these guys:

Well, like I said it was quite a good day. I kept running into that same disc golfer wandering thru different sets of weeds and woods. He had played quite a bit, and kept commenting on how hard the course was. I told him that I'd heard that it was the 3rd toughest, and he said he believed it.

The bikers seemed to be having a good time, also, as were the people still on the zip line, as I got back down.

Well, I hope you liked my tour. Even more, I hope you had a chance to get out and enjoy those glorious days. This is Sugarbush at it's summer best! :D Tons more pix in the album. 8)

Now, I think I'll get a ticket at the Adventure Gear center, throw a disc around and wander around in the bushes, wondering where it went, and how the heck it got away so fast.

I just had a very nice day. Hiked and biked up to Alyns and then tried out the berms on the way down. Thank you to all who are responsible. great job. lots of fun. But I sure could have used that lift.
Lunch and a dip at Warren Falls, then a walk on the Mtn and dinner at Timbers. All in all a great day.
Wife is making me go to Montreal tomorrow :( but we'll be back thursday.

When we were up over July 4th our family of 4 had a 630p reservation, showed up 5 minutes early, were seated at 7, water & bread followed 20 minutes later when we were finally able to get in our order, apps arrived in 25 minutes & were very tasty indeed. Yet it was a good 30+ minutes after apps were cleared that our entrees arrived - and they were quite less enjoyable than the apps. To the newly arrived dinner manager's (?) credit he offered to expedite our desserts - which, if it were not for a breakdown with the cash registers / billing system I am certain he would have effected as promised. Desserts were delicious. But we had another 25+ minute wait for them. All in all it was an evening...and almost all of it (OK so it was 'only' 3 hours...)

So I am hoping they do finally work out the kinks. Heard / read lots of efforts gone into addressing the initial launch issues and I am rooting for them...in some ways my wife & I feel Win deserves a 'win' with that restaurant given his diligence there & everywhere else on the hill. On that note, I saw him checking the BBQ food offerings during the afternoon cookout on the 4th. Sure he could send another to do that but he appears quite more hands-on & involved. And it shows - at least everywhere except service levels at Timbers. So here's to keeping up the efforts until that aspect is operating to the high standards that the rest of the operation is performing.

And still another great day! :D

I think this was the first Wednesday that was a nice (Tho quite hot) day, since they opened for summer activities.

I got out and headed up the lift. The haze in the distance said that it was not a day for scenery shooting, so I opted for a try at some more action shots.

I started down the traverse. Found a good spot, where I could get a background of the peak, with riders coming along the traverse. But there were no riders coming along the traverse. :?

Headed further down the traverse, and got to the Valley House lift before anyone came along. Got a few shots, and continued down Snowball.

Finally, guys started coming my way, and I got a number of shots, including when a gaggle of patrollers came up at one time.

The bad news (part 1) I lost a large number of shots. The way this camera works is if it doesn't focus on the first shot, the series (4 shots) is gone. I shoot in auto focus mode, but these guys on bikes just wanna go fast.

The good news is I got the vast majority. I shot 105 shots, today. I think I got 80. 5 might even be good.

The bad news (part 2) I am not able to go thru them for a few days. I have guests coming up for the weekend, so I have to clean up, and... I may have been a little slow in that department. Someone said that I have to clean up my act, but... Hey, I only have a couple days, here!

But I couldn't help getting a look at them, when I took them off the camera, and here are three of them:

What exactly is the guy at the top of this pic doing?

Now this is a shot! :)

Hopefully, I'll have the time to get a few more of these up by Monday, or so. 8)

Lostone , your pics are making me nervous. I haven't taken my bike up a mt. since Bretton Woods stopped lifting and I had done Sugarbush when they lifted years ago but it looks like these guys are wearing "serious" protective gear. I normally would wear a regular bike helmet and no padding. They do have some easier trails , right? And if I remember correctly " speed is your friend ".
I am coming up with my grandson in August and I don't want to leave as a bloody lump! ; }

John , any pointers? I know , rent the gear , take a lesson.

There are a variety of trails, and if you did the trails before, you rode Jester, or the traverse, Reverse Traverse, and the like. They are still there, and that is a suggested way.

The riding these guys are doing is serious, and I, myself, would not recommend them without a proper downhill bike and gear.

But you know that people ski with all sorts of equipment...? Well, you get to drive what you wish.

(I have a feeling the grandson might want to be riding the berms. )

I rode the cross country trails on thursday (another great day). Definitely good for everyone. Really liked going down sleeper road. Went up the castlerock runout and over the connection. Much easier than going up snowball which I foolishly did before. Live and learn. As usual I headed home wishing I had more time and longing for my return in 3 weeks (that'll be with my son and without the wife slowing me down). Can't wait to bike with the lifts running.

Were you on Sleeper Road around 2:30 - 3:00? I was wandering around in the woods, making believe I was playing disc golf ( ) and heard a couple people on bikes.

I grabbed my camera, thinking it might be someone on the single track, but saw that it was a couple people on Sleeper Road, who were too far from me to get a shot.

I was alone and it had to be around 5, although I would have been there at 3 if I hadn't waited 2 hours at the border coming back from Montreal. Evidently the DHS agents can't eat lunch and check cars at the same time. (I probably shouldn't write that)

You would remember me. Orange bike.

OK... at long last, I've posted the rest of the better pix that I took on Wednesday, here (http://forums.skimrv.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Summer_Activities&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php&page=11) in my Summer Activities album. 8)

I think I have a few good shots, there.
