As I am grilling in 70+ degree weather just checked the NOAA.gov and they just posted a winter storm warning

THE MAIN FOCUS WILL BE ON A DEVELOPING POWERFUL NOREASTER THAT IS
EXPECTED TO TRACK UP THE NEW ENGLAND COAST FRIDAY INTO EARLY SATURDAY.
SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE THURSDAY NIGHT FROM SOUTH TO NORTH. THE
PRECIPITATION MAY BE IN THE FORM OF SLEET OR SNOW TO THE SOUTH OF THE
MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE.

Doing my snow dance!!

Winter is not over....come on powder days!

I'm excited, especially after seeing what lower mountain looked like this afternoon after skiing soaking wet bumps and getting absolutely drenched.

And you have to give props to the NWS forecaster who sniffed this out last weekend prompting the earlier post

The temperatures are falling as I write this! Even though depth has been lost . We are still 100% open. Tonight we are going to do a lot of extra grooming. Where a few bare patches have appeared like skiiers right on Lower Organgrinder there is plenty of snow to push around and repair before the snow begins falling tomorrow night and into Saturday. Our forecaster is usually on the conservative side and his forecast this morning was chance of 1-2 today and tonight and 10-16 tomorrow night. I will go out on the line and say that we should have a great weekend, and it will be worth hitting the roads either tonight or early tomorrow if you are not within commuting distance. Watch the ruts in the roads!

It's been all snow to the bottom of the mountain since about 11am. The temps are still dropping and the surface seems to be blending nicely. This could set us up very well for tomorrow's dump.

I can't see the top of Valley House because of the snow in the air.

Just watched NECNs weather on the ones and they are saying it is going to start snowing ~ 2PM from South to North. With our area in the middle of the 18+" zone. So I agree with Win. Get out early. Boston, Hartford, Providence afternoon rush hour is going to be a zoo!

A TOTAL SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION OF 10 TO 20 INCHES IS
EXPECTED BY EARLY SATURDAY EVENING...WITH THE HEAVIEST
ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP FRIDAY NIGHT AND BECOME HEAVY AFTER
MIDNIGHT. THE HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO EARLY SATURDAY
AFTERNOON AND MAY BE BRIEFLY MIXED WITH SLEET AT TIMES.

This could be pretty big, albeit a bit wet. Since I am in Italy unfortunately and unable to hit it, I will have the mighty Nez stop by my house and pick up the Made'n AK's (108 under the foot). Just look for the guy in the red boeri brain bucket straightlining everything in sight........................

Was planning on taking a trip up that way, while I was out, today, just to see how things were. Kinda slipped my mind. :?

For those that don't know, We have a lot of ice on our rivers that seems to be all gathering at certain areas. The water behind that has a tendency to go where it wants.

And with all the runoff from the melting snow, and added rain... Lot of flood watches going.

SHOWING FAVORABLE OVERLAP OF SNOW GROWTH AND OMEGA TO SUPPORT A
PERIOD OF 2-3 INCH HOURLY SNOWFALL RATES AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND
ON INTO THE MORNING HOURS OF SATURDAY. THERMAL PROFILE SUGGESTS ALL
SNOW EXCEPT FOR SOUTH CENTRAL VERMONT WHERE SOME SLEET MAY MIX IN.
TRACK OF 700 AND 500 MB LOWS ALSO FAVORS VERMONT FOR HEAVIEST

All dirt roads have frozen ruts and funky bumps from the warm-up/freeze. Take it easy on Roxbury. No snow yet.

I'm hoping the new snow means I won't embarrass my son as badly as last year in the bumps comp. He pretended that he didn't know me when I finished my run last year.

But, I remember at least one forum member who wiped out during the comp last year. His son was in my Blazer group last year and he probably pretended he didn't know his dad too.

Later that week, I was on Fling and noticed someone just cruising effortlessly through those ice bumps. I watched in amazement, only to realize as the skier got to the bottom that it was David Babic.

Preparation for tomorrow includes grooming trails like Twist, Castlerock Run, Middle Earth, Sunrise and others. Rain caused these trails to set up hard and funky so by grooming tonight with 1-2 feet of new snow they should be incredible tomorrow. I hope everyone head to the Rock first thing because I am going to Twist.

...INTERESTING PATTERN SETTING UP NEXT WEEKEND...WHICH WL NEED
TO BE WATCHED CLOSELY IN THE UPCOMING DAYS. THE SETUP SHOWS SFC FRNT
PUSHING ACRS OUR CWA FRIDAY AND BECMG STATIONARY ALONG THE MID
ATLANTIC STATES FRIDAY NIGHT WITH SEVERAL WEAK WAVES OF LOW PRES
DEVELOPING ALONG THE FRNT. THIS COMBINED WITH NUMEROUS PIECES OF
ENERGY IN BOTH THE NORTHERN/SOUTHERN STREAMS COULD PRODUCE A VERY
