View Full Version : What Should We Call This Sub-Forum?

"Miscellaneous Discussion" is not exactly a name that sets the heart a flutter. The Mods have been discussing internally the possibility of changing the name to something more reflective of the Valley and its heritage. A bunch of names have been floated, but we certainly don't ownt he franchise on good ideas. I'll post a few in a poll here and would ask that you feel free to submit a write-in if we've missed anything obvious.

Another vote for the Valley Tavern.

Actually, when I saw the poll up, I got in the first vote.

We were 100% of the votes, then!

Valley Tavern sounds too specific... typically general forums are something more broadly named, like simply "The Tavern" or "The Pub"... those do imply a very apres feel though (I have posted in this forum quite early in the morning, haha)... how bout just "The Lodge"?

In the cyber world apres ski can last until... you go back to skiing.

But your request for The Lodge has been noted. 8)

How about "Off Topic"...people new to the forum or unfamiliar with the valley will have NO idea what the other names mean or what type of thing to post here.

Meh. Too generic. I'm sure those that are new will figure it out. If they're able to find this place to begin with, that implies they are somewhat Net savvy.

Man Gallaghers brings back some memories. Actually it's likely due to that fine establishment that many memories can not be recounted. What a great Apres ski place. Plenty of music and beer. Remember when the Mad River Tavern was open across the way. It was like dueling pianos. You kow if bars were pianos and people......ah ... I've got nothing...... Thank you Gallaghers.

I hear the turbo is actually too fast. The time you were wasting just flys right on by. You can't enjoy yourself when the time you are wasting moves too quickly. When that happens its like you never wasted any time at all. Poof, out of time and nothing to show for it...which is what we all want, just want it to go slower. There, time wasted. :P

Huh, so no room for the Burn Barrel, the Dumpster, Under the Stairwell and Aunt Jeanie's Sewing Room.

There's also The Lifty Shack, The Ski Patrol Shed, the Pump House and The Timing Hut. I really don't like any of these, I just feel compelled to share them.

there seemed to be some late support for "The lodge" as well. I'm going to keep this open for a while and continue to goad people into voting so we can approach a reasonable sample size of 25 or so.

VOTE, people. It's your democratic right. Everytime you click in this forum and you don't vote in this thread, another kitten dies. You don't want that hanging over your head, do you?

I've voted already, but I appreciate quality goading. I like the Mushroom as a rememberance of the one time slopeside pub, but also because often the topics of these threads often mushroom into many topics. Vote for The Mushroom and vote often. :)

That's what we need - a little Tammany Hall style politicking.

Yes, folks, and I'm giving out 30 Valley dollars to anyone who comes to the Valley Tavern.

Note: Valley Dollars are not related to any valley you might know of. Valley Dollars are only expendable in the cyber lounge, soon to be known as the Valley Tavern, and not in anyplace that was supposed to be named the Valley Tavern, but fell prey to another, much poorer naming convention.

Well, you could change the poll to add it by editing your original post. There are two that haven't gotten a single vote.

Of course, it would have to catch up with one of the front-runners, now at a rip roaring 5 and 6 votes, respectively.

Madhouse now added as an option. If I could, I'd switch my vote from the Mushroom (the leader in the clubhouse with 7 votes) to the Madhouse. IF anyone else has already voted and wants to switch to the Madhouse, feel free to say so in this thread.

Didn't seem to be a groundswell of support for any particular name. I do actually like the "Madhouse" suggestion above but this may be a situation where you need to exercise your considerable executive powers and just choose a name.

no reason the ski pants and MRG giveaway can't go under skiing, and the driving stuff under the mad river valley. There is not enough traffic to warrant a million sub forums.
