Date(s) Skied: Saturday, 12/9
Conditions: Packed Powder, Variable, Ice
Trip Report: Overall fun day, except that it was freezing, and the entire summit was in a cloud all day. The crouds went up and down. Early, the wait at Summit was only about 1 minute. As the day went on, the lines averaged anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Bearable. Panorama was beautiful . Upper Rim Run was scary. Pretty much solid ice for the first 100 yards or so. Then it was ok. Lower Rim was packed powder; a decent cruiser. Elbow was skiing well. Pretty soft, especially on the sides. Lower Elbow was windpacked powder, and thus a bit tricky. But hey... it was open! Lookin Good was skiing quite nicely. Soft packed powder, especially on the edges. FIS was interesting. Skier's left was choppy powder, both natural and man-made. Some spots were icy, some rocks were showing, and the bottom was hard and slick. Overall, though, it was reasonable and entirely skiable. Exterminator was a blast! Once you got past the first 20 yards of SOLID ICE it was really soft powder, both natural and man-made. Guns were still on, and there were some monster wales. As it was skied more some nice small bumps began to appear. There was one section (about 20 yards) where the cover was VERY thin (2-8"), and 90% natural snow... lots of grass sticking out! The rest had a pretty good soft cover. Wayback was... well.... Wayback. Snowmaking in the face, decent cover.
Guns were blowing on Straight Shot until mid-morning. Guns on Cruiser all day. T2B at least by next weekend.
