The valley is an inherently creative place, it seems. And this:

....pretty much echoes that whole creative vibe.

But I got to thinking about the Phish concert at SB in 1994, and a "camping weekend at the ski area" festival at Snow Ridge in Turin, NY, that's been a huge success....and I thought that SB could maybe pull something off.

So, how about a SB (Mt. Ellen?) summer music camping weekend.....? Insert Howie Mandel here, saying "Sane Idea, or Insane Idea ?".....

Maybe a summer boost for a quiet time....and I still have a mud stained tie-die shirt in a drawer somewhere.....

I think it would be awesome to bring music back to the mountain.

For two summers in the late 90's the Bush hosted a series of summer concerts, the Tragically Hip concert was probably the most memorable not forgetting all the great Ben&Jerry One World One Heart Festivals. For the TH concert I answered 260 phone calls that day 99% of them concertgoers asking for directions. For the first couple hours gave detailed directions, halfway thru I was less detailed, last couple of hours "get off exit 10 and follow the cars".

I agree. The key is to to find a big name act(s) and make sure they are a big enough draw that rain doesn't matter. Phish and TH worked. Who would you come see for a camping weekend, where weather didn't matter...? Give me the list.

....and local talent deserves a share of the spotlight. Nothing About Grover....

....a local band who's debut CD I bought at Paradise Deli last week, is great ! They have a debut party tomorrow at the Valley Players Theater.

And Grace Potter's CD's have been well liked by this listener, too.

Ah, music.....can't you just hear it ? "The hills are alive, with the sound of...."

Wouldn't have a clue how to get a big act in...but lots of good acts hit Burlington, right ?

I managed to find a couple of concert tee shirts from back then. You can try but I think we heard about every reference possible regarding the B&J tee shirt design and color. It salmon not pink!......

Great shirts! I have 1 B&J STAFF shirt in neon lime that I love. When Phish came I worked at the Bank and the ATM line snaked around the whole bank. That event was teh single most exciting thing this Valley ever saw. 13(?) years later and we are still talking about it! I think the valley ran out of soda, ice, deli meat and beer! Trey would be a good one to bring back :?: . Are we dreaming do you think?

edit: ok, the (500 year) flood of '98 was the most exciting thing, Phish was darn close behind!

Phil and Friends should be topping that list!

That'd be so amazing, having Phil in the valley... let's start this project now!
