Someone posted this plan on alpine zone. Its from 1983.

Attachment 20867

I am glad this did not happen since it appears to also include widening most of the natural snow trials including Rumble and Lift line. Also the lift that bringing you from Slide Brook to Mt ellen terminates near the bottom of lower FIS. From the top of the lift you would have to ski the lower FIS traverse to get to the base area. The person who posted this said it was the original plan but it seems like lift to Mt. Ellen is an alternative to one that terminated either near Rim Run or the top of the GMX. Its also a little odd that the new Chair lift closest to North Lynx can't be accessed from any of the other chairs in Slide Brook.

That's the attachment ID from the alpine zone forum so it won't work here. Here's a better view of the 1980s plan than what was posted on AZ:

If you want to see/read the whole thing, you can go to books.google.com and search for "Green Mountain National Forest (N.F.), Sugarbush Valley Winter Sports Area Expansion: Environmental Impact Statement".

From the looks of it, if saving the character of the classic trails on Castlerock, Twist/Moonshine, Jester, GMX and either side of Inverness was the price to pay for not expanding into Slide Brook, I'll take it. What would be left wouldn't be worth skiing all that much.
