So now that the state has had some time to survey the dammage, do they have a plan and a time frame for fixing Rt's 100, 12 and 12A? Just curious.

Hawk- roads open up every day. What I think you will see is that by Winter virtually all the roads will be open, albeit potentially gravel, not paved. You can use this link to get a pretty good idea of progress on routes you travel. I have found that while some of the roads say "open, use caution" may actually be closed during the day while crews work. They try to open at least one lane at night for emergency access should it be needed by ambulance, fire, etc.

Thanks Noski. That site is a good resource for finding out what is done. But I was looking for actual word of mouth reports on any plans or time frames on the fixing of additional routes to the valley. If I read that report correctly there is still only one way from 89 south into the Valley. So no exit 3,4,5 or 9(100B) yet. From the extent of what I heard it might be some time because of bridge rebuilding.

The route from exit 5 (Lovers Lane to 12A to Roxbury) will be the first alternate route to open. The section by the Golf Course is supposed to re-open this week according to a Roxbury resident. If you want, i will post when it is fully open.

You can now access the Valley via Exit 5 > Lovers Lane > 12A > Roxbury Gap > MRV. You cannot yet access from Randolph exit 4.

100B is still closed.

Rt 100 from Warren to Granville is now open- albeit gravel in one section, so the detour of Plunkton Rd is now unnecessary. You can also cross to and from Moretown/Northfield via Moretown Mountain Rd. We're gaining...

Campbrook Road (Bethel Mtn Rd) will be open again during the day, beginning Thursday, Sept. 22. It may be only one lane in some places because there is still construction going on, so be prepared to stop.

Rt 100 is open to Warren from Rochester as of yesterday.

100B from Middlesex/Moretown is NOW open. http://governor.vermont.gov/newsroom-route-100-reopens

Sorry to beat a dead horse- but we are driving up from Boston tomorrow night via I-89 for Siptemberfest. What is the recommended route?

Thanks!

Simplest is I-89 to Exit 9 > (left) Rt 2 East 1 mile, then (right) on 100B, south straight to the Mad River Valley.

Great- thanks! Just wanted to make sure the whole route was back open.

Rt 12A between Roxbury and Braintree is expected to be closed until at least January. So getting off in Randolph and jumping on 12A to Roxbury Gap Rd is not an option for a while. Stick with Exit 5 via Northfield/Lovers Lane or Exit 9 via 100B/Moretown.

Good News! Rt 100 is now open thru to Rt 4 (and beyond!) so you guys who like to come up from 149 > 4 > 100 can now do so.

Great news. I have some traveling between Rutland and Warren over the next few weeks, so this will cut down on miles and time and frustration dramatically. Thanks for the updates Noski.

I see that there are construction delays on certain parts of of 4 and 100 between Rutland and Warren. Does anybody know if it is really slow going on that route or is it manageable? I will be passing through early Friday evening.

Last weekend I drove Rt4 from 89 to Rutland. No problems. The damage off the sides of the road is still amazing and causes some understandable rubbernecking which slows traffic at those points but the road is open. Between Rutland and Pico, they are still working on the road side just up hill from Sugar and Spice so the lanes shift and the speed limit is about 30 mph. That is only for about 1/2 mile and the rubbernecking is tremendous there, with good reason.

I drove up last night. Took exit 3 over Bethel mountain road. A bunch of dirt patches crossing the road but in good shape, didn't need to slow much at all. 100 from Rochester up to Warren is fine. Only a couple dirt patches crossing the road, the biggest is just north of Rochester center. Best to slow down for that road transition else you'll leave some car parts behind.

Haven't been from Rochester to Killington on 100 yet. Doing that on Saturday night. Good luck.

Hard to tell. While those road sections are open, they are far from perfect and work continues. I would guess that by early Friday night they will be done for the weekend. Maybe if you take the route you could promptly post your experience for others (?). Weather for the next several days will be stellar. Enjoy!

Enjoy!I went through Rutland on Route 4 last night and up to Warren on 100 and it was not a problem at all. I went though about 8p so the road work was done for the day. As Brew Ski said, there is a 30 MPH zone going up to Pico and I did not hit any congestion at that time. I was amazed at how much new asphalt has been laid down since the storm. Kudos to the road crews. There are some gravel/dirt patches on 100 you have to be careful with at night since they are difficult to see. The road heading up into the Granville gulf is still pretty rough so be careful.

Untrue. I have just spoken with someone who lives on that stretch. I will let you know as soon as I hear it's open.

Think about this fact: Repair to Rt 107 between Stockbridge and Bethel needs enough rock to fill a football field...100 feet deep. http://www.wcax.com/story/15692983/materials?redirected=true
