Egan is still working hard to ski up all the powder before it goes away.

We are considering a fine for errant passholders who are not doing their part to ski or ride all this awesome snow. Perhaps you will be made to eat a burger fresh off the grill or drink a cool malty beverage in punishment. Be prepared for atonement!

Unfortunately, I'll be coaching soccer tomorrow morning. Win, lose or draw after the game I intend on running those First Graders 'til they puke!

Today = AWESOME!

Rode from 10 until 4:30, with only about a 30-minute break. The snow was a little firm in the shade this morning but softened up quick. Highlights for me included: 6 runs up on Castlerock, 3 on North Lynx including 2/Birch and 1/Sunrise, a pair of laps on Domino (excellent yesterday too - one person said the best its been all season), a nice Lower Birdland, a beautiful pair of runs on Twist and Moonshine, and finished it all up with Run #23 on The Mall. There is still a ton of snow up there - only bare spots visible were a couple on Castlerock and a spot or two on Lower Birdland (which is normal - for March!). Coverage on Middle Earth, Sunrise, Twist, Moonshine, and The Mall was edge to edge, most likely 95-98% coverage. The only spots I noticed where its "getting thin" is the Castlerock Connection final turn at the lift, Sleeper Chutes, and portions of Castlerock's Lower Lift Line (the lower-most section from the last Troll Road switchback down is closed).

In contrast, one year ago, we closed Heaven's Gate for the season, reducing operations to just the "left side" of Bravo (Steins and Snowball/Spring Fling). What a difference a year (and 100"+ more inches of snow) makes!!!

Get out there this weekend and enjoy it!!!

Not to distract from what must have been a sweet Saturday at the mountain, we also had a post-season Bush Pilots training flight ...

Nothing rhymes with Orange, but it's still a nice color. Nice turns Jay!

Jigger, a Mountaineering Blazer dad, also joined us. Dropping into Ammo.

Great Pix John! Thanks for posting them.

Mt. Washington was a fabulous adventure. I'd recommend all Sugarbush skiers to get a guide who knows what they are doing for safety, make the trip, skin to the top, get fresh pow and have an amazing 3500 ft Vert drop back to the bottom! Words just cannot explain the beauty, the views, the ski lines or the enourmous snow fields. You got be there to get it. Be better there too!

Wow, Orange. You look like you've skied Cham. Big mountain turns on a serious pitch,....after 4000 vert up with pack and crampon summit! You rule!

Thanks for the kudos, Brew. But as we all know there was really only one ruler up there....Mt. Washington ! And you were anything but shabby, my friend. Banging out your turns like you were hitting Liftline on a pow day. In fact, I think John serendipitously caught one of my few "A-Game" moments of the day. A day which left me feeling humbled, totally smoked, and in awe of what one little old eastern mountain could serve up.

Bushpilots et al,

Mt Washington and the surrounding peaks ski well the entire ski season typically. Don't restrict your visits to just the spring. Try it in Dec/Jan/Feb and March. These are great months in the whites as the various ravines are typically totally empty and the conditions excellent. Glad you hit up Ammo on Sat. I was in GOS for a couple nice runs with hardly a sole around, unlike the circus in Tucks. This weekend is (& Friday) is shaping up nicely for another round, but we'll keep the location to the lesser known areas................

Wow, the Chic Chocs are a haul from anywhere in New England. How long did it take to get there? I have only been to the Chic Chocs (not skiing) twice and both times were on 1500+ mile snowmobile trips around the Gaspe.

"Don't restrict your visits to just the spring. Try it in Dec/Jan/Feb and March. "

Sounds like you are trying to keep us away and out of your local lines!

"... unlike the circus in Tucks. "

It certainly was! One of our guys sent a picture around from the same day of a line of about 40 people in lock step boot packing up the main bowl. Way too many people in single file boot pack for any type of safety, especially considering the main bowl was still at moderate avy danger.

Our guides from Cloudsplitter did a great job of getting us fresh tracks in great snow AND away from any crowds. In fact, there were a line of people coming to where we skied saying that the bowl was still all ice. We could hear their skis scratching from 1/4 mile away. It always feels good to get the goods and leave before the others show up!!! 8)

btw, I think JA is some sort of super human. He didn't really seem to break a sweat or get fatigued on that massive skin up to the top. The guy is on a whole different level of conditioning than your average mortal.

Today = great too. Still snowing.

Thanks AHM, we had originally scheduled this MTW trip for March, but had to move to April. We are well-versed in the Gaspe skiing too. Maybe next year for a BP trip?

Jeff, I appreciate your kind words, but I am not in incredible shape, just efficient. Thanks for helping build the myth though!

Check out a video edit from the trip here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxOnRyX14ks)
