No rain at the onset, snowing lightly at 32F around 1200ft in Waitsfield. What is showing on radar is ahead of what's making it to the ground.

A few rain drop marks on the deck, but I don't think it's currently raining... Moretown, 800 ft...

The bad news, as Plowboy said, is that it is raining. The good news is it put down a few inches of snow that is bing packed by said rain. Now, if we get the snow after the changeover, and it stays cold, as the forecast says...

We could have winter going, from this week.

Is that a cold rain at the base with a chance that it's snow up top? Please say yes, that it's been snowing the whole time at the higher elevations.

In truth, I can't see the peak, but think it is likely rain up there, too. But that is not bad. The non-covered trails were mostly bare. This will paste a base on them. Then, if we can get 2 or 3 feet on top...

Cool

Snow Report @ 7:55 wrote:
Patrol just called and said there is 5 inches of new snow at the summit. There is a bit of mixed precip falling up high and there could be a bit of a glaze on the new snow, so if you're headed topside, make sure you have some edges on your gear and some Gore-Tex on your body. Four inches of new snow at mid mountain; three at the base.

....as (perfect timing, of course) we happen to be driving up to the valley tonight. Hoping all the snow falls on ski trails, and leaves the roads dry, especially 73 and 100, for our travel.

If anyone can provide periodic updates throughout the day and afternoon with respect to what's going on at mid-mountain and the summit, it would be much appreciated. The radar doesn't look promising for frozen precip.
