I skied Paradise yesterday and there was a large landslide on the first pitch at some point over the summer... probably 20 yards across by 50 yards long.. large debris pile at the end. didn't have a camera but it will be quite an obstacle till it gets covered with snow...

Another downside of inadequate forestry mgmt. Expect to see the same on Bear Claw and other favorite SB runs near you if action isn't taken.

Yes they do. Their current program featuring excellent forestry mgmt was initiated, in large part, in response to the over-cutting of Paradise (which had been off the map) and a lack of any plan whatsoever at the time. The destruction wrought by the ice storm 10-15 years ago kicked that program into high gear, but Paradise had been a growing problem for years. The fact that Paradise is still experiencing these sorts of issues, despite the excellent program put in place a decade ago, should be a wake up call to the owners and managers at SB they they should act fast lest they lose prime terrain for a generation or more.[/img]
