I think that's a good approach. You find it yourself or befriend someone that knows the goods, then that's the way 99% of the people who've skied that run found it. Finding via broadcast on the internet - maybe not so much.

Strat, I think all I said was "very interested" in bc runs. I think I recall in one of the slidebrook posts that you were questioning someone about access or something Question I have no problem with anyone who has interest on off-piste runs. I just think it is a tad foolish to ask the whereabouts in a public forum that is all. Even if some consider it public knowledge!

Like I said before you were "very interested". That is all. No harm, no foul. Smile If you thought I was crying foul.....I was. Laughing

Those crafty little teasers at the Bush! They might get some bc enthusiasts to slap down a couple hundred bucks to find a trail they've been skiing for years only they called it something else! Go ahead! Sounds like a lot of fun. ; }

It just seemed, judging by your tone and word choice, that you were accusing me of something. I'm well aware of the generally-unspoken rules about discussion of off-the-map terrain in a public forum, I've been around these things for quite some time now (in terms of the history of online sugarbush discussion at least).

I never claimed to be "very interested" either, if you read what I said in that slidebrook topic again - not that it's worth quabbling over a few words, but I don't really think I seemed to wildly eager to know... frankly I'm more interested in slidebrook access for snowshoeing capability than for skiing or snowboarding...

Strat, I am not putting words into your posts. I didn't claim anything. Just formed an opinion. I didn't think that my tone in my first post was argumentative. I guess I could say WTF? Evil or Very Mad Or just say WTF? Laughing I came to my own brief conclusion that you were very interested. How about for the sake of this argument and word choice I take out "very", and just say interested? And BTW, I don't care and have no idea where bear claw is! Confused

Dare I say that this is a very interesting topic? Laughing Judging by how long the topic has been up and the amount of views, this one is one of the more popular threads1

I feel special Very Happy Cool

Abe, alrighty then, I suppose we should leave it be...

Volkl, by understanding "the rules" I knew in my asking that I wasn't actually going to get an answer; it was almost rhetorical in that way. I was more interested in the existence of this piece of "backcountry", and whether or not it was as well-known as the Church and the terrain of slidebrook, and if so why I had never heard of it... that's all.

Exactly. I have skied alot of the woods at the Bush, but there are very few that I actually know the name of. Same goes for Smuggs, Stowe, MRG. I just go find them and never really bother to find out the official name (except for the Church - everyone knows that one). So who knows I may have skied "Bear Claw" and never known it.

You guys are funny. Follow the tracks into the woods between almost any trail, and you'll probably find some really great turns. or you'll be crawling out of deadfall 'cause you followed the tracks of some other joey who didn't know better Sad

Ditto. True ohhh sooooo true. As a kid I spent many long days following other peoples tracks. Only to find 4 sets of tracks turn to 3 to 2 then to none. But I sure know my way around now......I think? Very Happy
